FUNDRAISING PROGRESS

It is time for our students to READ, READ, READ!  Our PTA Read-a-thon (Reading Marathon) Fundraiser is underway and we're back again running this fundraiser online so you can easily share with friends and family members near and far.  By supporting this fundraiser, not only are you financially contributing to our school, but you are also partaking in challenging students to increase their personal reading goals.

The funds raised will be allocated towards covering the costs for students' field trips, on-line learning tools, reduced cost for science camp, and many other contributions allowing us to continue promoting our Colibries' educational enrichment.

We're kicking off our Read-a-thon this year with the ever popular Door Decorating Contest!

  DOOR DECORATING CONTEST DETAILS

Join us for a walk around campus on February 12th at 10am to admire all the cool classroom door decorations to kick off our Read-a-thon!

All Readers are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite book character and meet and greet our special guest this year: SJ Sharkie!

Help your Reader find some fun/interesting reading material!

Start collecting books, magazines, comic books, articles, cookbook recipes, poems, etc.  Keep in mind your reader’s personal interests, age, and reading ability.  Take a trip to your local library, book store, swap books with other students/friends/family, or check out the little free libraries around your neighborhood.

Help your Reader commit to a personal yet challenging reading goal.  We have suggested reading times per grade level on the table below, but you can adjust accordingly depending on your Reader’s response.  Keep in mind that the more minutes are spent reading, the higher the chances of winning prizes!

For TK-1st grades, little readers are encouraged to read and set personal reading goals with the help of their Parents/Guardians; time spent being read to by either parents, guardians, or family members also counts towards the reader's reading goal!

Make a list of friends and family members to support your reader! Consider using your social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) as a platform to share the fundraiser.

Suggested Reading Times

Grade Suggested minutes per day
TK/Kinder 20 to 60 Min/day
1st & 2nd grades 30 to 60 Min/day
3rd through 5th grades 40 to 90 Min/day
6th through 8th grades 60 to 120 Min/day

On February 11th, you will receive an email from 99Pledges with a link to your reader's pledge page.  Upload a picture of your reader and share the link with friends and family via email, social media, or text message.  A friendly text reminder will help your reader's supporters to take action!

Donations can begin on February 12th when the Read-a-Thon kicks off.  The goal this year is to raise $150 per reader.  Lots of small donations will help us reach our school goal.

Also, visit the Charity Navigator website or check directly with your company to find out if they can support your reader in matching donations!

If you did not receive the email on February 11th, search for your reader's name in the 99Pledges site or contact us for additional help.

Starting on February 12th, Readers will start reading (or being read to) every day until the end of the fundraiser on February 24th. Readers should keep in mind their personal reading goal and Parents/Guardians should encourage the readers to challenge themselves to keep reading every day.

We want reading to be a joy, not a chore!  Don’t worry if you can’t fit in a long reading sessions every day, breaking reading time into smaller 10-minute increments - like a quick chapter after breakfast or a few pages before bed - is a great way to keep the momentum going.  Every minute counts toward keeping our Readers engaged!

We'd love to see your Readers in action, capture those reading moments and share them with your circle and supporters!  When friends and family see your Reader's efforts, they'll be inspired to match that dedication with a supporting donation!

We will have a Practice Run for our TK to 2nd grades this year! - The Little Readers can begin reading (or being read-to) starting on January 26th, and turn in their Practice Reading Logs on February 2th (Monday) and February 9th (Friday) to be entered into in-class raffles and win cool prizes!

TK-2nd Grade: Little Readers will be given a paper Reading Log to help track the reading progress during the Read-a-thon.  Parents/Guardians may help the readers fill the Reading Log entries, and sign each entry for the reading times to ensure fairness.

Parents/Guardians can also enter the reading times onto the the Google Form for their Little Readers.  An email with a link and instructions will be sent to parents in these grades.

2nd to 8th Grade: Readers will be able to enter their own reading progress onto the 2nd-8th Google Form using their school computer.  The teachers will provide more information about the process and will add the link to the readers' Google Classroom.

+ ABOUT THIS FUNDRAISER

My school (Adelante Dual Immersion Academy) provides equitable opportunities for all students to help us achieve high levels of bilingual proficiency while also developing our multicultural competency through a rigorous English and Spanish dual language immersion instruction program.

It is through the continued fostering of an inclusive, multi-ethnic learning environment that the Adelante community has become part of not only the academic development but the educational enrichment of each student through class/school activities, field trips, and science camp to name a few.  Such activities are only possible thanks to your monetary support through our fundraising efforts.

We believe that the success of each one of the Colibríes at Adelante depends not only on their personal effort, but on the combined effort of the teachers, administrative staff, and parents/guardians as a whole.

We are giving each student a personal fundraising goal of $150.  This can only be achieved with the unwavering support of family and friends near and far.  No dollar amount is too small!  You can choose from the suggested donation amount, or you can customize your donation in the “enter a different amount” space.  We encourage you to share the link via text, e-mail, social media platform, etc.
